Kale felt the bitterness run through his veins as he shut his eyes tight. Like a freight train it came ramming back through his mind as if it were just yesterday. They'd been hanging out late at the playground.
"Are you here for the same thing I am?" Kale had been on top of the jungle gym on the school playground. It was dark and it was late.
"I guess so," Evan just shrugged and found himself a spot on the jungle gym next to Kale.
"I've never ever done anything like this?" Kale wanted to know. Evan shook his head.
"Me, either."
"It should be fun," Evan smirked. "It'll be like a fraternity."
"Yeah, I fraternity. I've always wanted to be in one of those." Kale had smiled at the thought of a fraternity.
"You nervous?" Evan asked while pushing a strand of blond hair behind his ear.
"No. I'm not." The words came so certain now.
Kale kept his eyes tight shut now. Would he remember everything? Did you want to remember everything?
